Geological and Mineralogical Museum

The Geological and Mineralogical Museum is affiliated with the University. The Museum continues its ongoing display of subsurface rocks, ores and minerals from all over the world. The Geological and Mineralogical Museum’s rocks collection has been recorded in State Register of Scientific Facilities being the National Endowment by Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 73 dated 11.02.2004. The museum features a collection of mineral samples describing mineral deposits of Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Egypt, Algeria, Iran, Austria, Madagascar, Vietnam, Japan, the Canary Islands, etc.

Apart from the main mining and industrial regions of Ukraine, the exhibition presents mineral deposits of Ural, the Kola Peninsula, the East European Plain, the Baikal region, the ore belts of Altai, the Altay Mountains, Yakutia, Magadan region, Chukotka, Kamchatka, the Khabarovsk Territory, Western and Eastern Siberia. The unique content of the exposition has been collected in a relatively short period of time. The Geological and Mineralogical Museum in Kryvyi Rih National University has become a reputable scientific, research and educational Centre. The museum is attended by schoolchildren, students, university teachers, researchers and academics from Kryvyi Rih institutions and schools as well as guests from different cities of Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Germany, Poland, the USA, Canada, Algeria, Jordan, Syria and others. We strive to meet the needs of students and faculty at Kryvyi Rih National University as well the geological community and public at large by serving as a uniquely rich resource of materials and information.
