About faculty
Historical background

Training of engineers in the specialty "Mining electromechanics has been conducted since 1932. In 1935, 40 out of 124 graduates of Kryvyi Rih Mining Institute (i.e. every third) received a diploma of mining engineer-electromechanics.

 Over the years of its existence the Electromechanical Faculty was headed by associate professors B. I. Bazutkin (1947–1951, 1957–1961), S.M. Zamytskyi (1951–1957), G. A. Koval (1953–1957), N.L. Chekanov (1961–1963), V.S. Kharlamov (1963–1964).

In 1955, the Faculty organized training of specialists in the field of automated electric drive, automation of production processes and electrification of mining operations. Later, the departments of informatics, automation and control systems and modeling and software were organized.  Subsequently, these departments were transferred to other structures of the Institute (University).

In 1964, on the basis of the Electromechanical Faculty, Electrotechnical and Mechanical Engineering Faculties were created.  Deans of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering were associate professors: V. F. Shchotka (1964-1976), V. P. Khorolskyi (1976–1979), E. A. Ilin (1980–1985), V.Z. Musarskyi (1985–1998), S.V. Shmalii (1998), Yu.H. Osadchuk (1998–2019).  Since 2019, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering has been headed by PhD (Engineering) Vladyslav Oleksandrovych Fedotov.

A significant contribution to the improvement of educational and methodological work of the Faculty at different times was made by Doctors of Engineering, professors H.I. Kornilov, V.S. Morkun, V.M. Nazarenko, L.I. Poltava, D.J. Rodkin, A.P. Sinolitsyi, O.M. Sinchuk, S.T. Tolmachov, E.H. Fainstein, V.P. Khorolskyi, V.M. Chermalykh, V.P. Shchokin and  PhDs (Engineering), associate professors O.T. Huzhovskyi, E.S. Huzov, E.A. Ilin, V.V. Kanevskyi, V.Y. Momot, V.Z. Musarskyi, L.S. Tonkoshkur, V.F. Shchotka;  senior teachers V.I. Ageenko, B.M. Rud and others.

Today, like decades ago, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering is one of the leading at the university.  The Faculty consists of five departments: Automated Electromechanical Systems in Industry and Transport, Electricity Supply and Energy Management, Electromechanics, Heat Power Engineering, Physics.  More than 40 lecturers work at the departments of the Faculty, in particular, Doctors of Engineering, professors O.V. Zamytskyi, E.O. Nesmashnyi, O.M. Sinchuk, S.T. Tolmachov, V.P. Shchokin; 22 PhDs (Engineering), associate professors.  The best lectures of the faculty have been awarded for a significant contribution to educational and scientific work.

Graduates of the faculty worked and still work in responsible administrative positions: Yu.V. Lyubonenko – a former chairman of Kryvyi Rih City Council;  S.V. Malyarenko – the Secretary of the City Council, A.V. Poltavets – the Deputy Mayor;  H.I. Tkachenko – General Director of the TOV "Kryvorizhelektromontazh". Doctor of Engineering, Professor B.I. Mokin, Doctor of Engineering, professor V.M. Kutin are professors of Vinnytsia State Technical University; Doctor of Engineering, professor A.P. Chorny is Director of Kremenchuk National University.  Doctor of Engineering, professor D.J. Rodkin and PhD (Engineering), professor A.V. Luhovyi are Heads of Departments of Kremenchuk National University.

The Faculty trains specialists in electromechanics and energetics for various activities of enterprises, organizations and institutions, in particular:

 – industrial enterprises (machine-building, metallurgical and by-product coke plants, mines, mining and beneficiation plants, electronic  equipment plants, enterprises of the energy, oil and gas industry);

– higher educational institutions (teaching and research activities);

 – design and research institutes, commercial enterprises.

Training of bachelors and masters is carried out in two specialties:

– 141 "ELECTRICAL POWER ENGINEERING, ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING AND ELECTROMECHANICS" (specialization: "Elecrticity Supply Systems of Industrial Enterprises, Cities and Local Objects", "Electrical Transport", " Special Electromechanical Equipment of Energy-Consuming Industries", "Electromechanical Systems of Automation and Electric Drive".

 – 144 " Heat Power Engineering " (specialization: "Heat Power Engineering ").

The Faculty provides education in full-time and part-time modes.  There are state-funded and contractual bachelor’s and master’s degree courses.

На всіх кафедрах факультету функціонує аспірантура (докторантура).

Postgraduate and doctoral programmes are available at all departments of the Faculty.

 The Faculty of Electrical Engineering provides 100% employment taking into account graduates’ wishes.

Well-known foreign companies Omron, ABB, Lenze have confidence in qualification and dynamism of the young generation of the Faculty and employ our graduates in their representative offices.  Enterprises are actively involved in development of the educational base of the Faculty.

 At the Faculty there are 5 professors, 22 associate professors, 7 senior lecturers and 7 assistants. The Faculty is training 259 full-time students and 226 part-time students.
